Who we are

ET@UniTo

The Scientific Platform on Energy Transition of the University of Turin

ET@UniTo is the University of Turin's platform dedicated to the study and research of the Energy Transition.

ET@UniTo intends to focus on renewable energy and the transition to a decentralized and inclusive energy system, capable of reducing climate-altering emissions and promoting new technological and sustainable consumption models.

The initiative represents an evolution and integration of two previous University Platforms: H2@UniTo, dedicated to hydrogen development, and REC@UniTo, focused on Renewable Energy Communities.

ET@UniTo's scope of intervention covers the entire energy cycle: production, management, and consumption, with a multidisciplinary approach that aims to consider all aspects involved, from those inherent in the natural sciences to those of the social and human sciences.

ET@UniTo Research

ET@UniTo is a developing platform, whose specific lines of activity are currently being defined. The initiative's strategic objectives aim to consolidate the University's role as a key player in the ecological transition, integrating different skills to respond to current energy challenges. ET@UniTo was created to coordinate and enhance research and third mission activities, acting as a catalyst for sustainable innovation and a point of reference for the local area and the scientific community.

Scientific Research and Technology Transfer

The platform promotes interdisciplinary applied research, with the aim of accelerating technology transfer on the crucial issues of sustainable energy and decarbonization processes.

Synergies and Networking

ET@UniTo fosters the creation of a collaborative ecosystem that unites research groups, departments, and centers within the University, while also engaging in dialogue with external stakeholders such as businesses, local authorities, and civil society.

Financing Strategies

The platform offers structured support for accessing resources, guiding participation in funding programs and competitive calls at regional, national, and European levels.

Training and Dissemination

A key pillar is the contribution to higher education and the valorization of research results, essential for disseminating scientific knowledge and developing new skills in the energy sector.

Coordinator of the ET@UniTo platform

Prof. Alessandro Sciullo

Alessandro Sciullo is a researcher at the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin, where he works on ecological and energy transition, sustainability, social innovation and public policy evaluation. With a background in Political Science and a PhD in Sociology, he has participated in and coordinated numerous national and international research projects, especially within the Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 programs. He is coordinator of the e3s Joint Program of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and has held various institutional roles related to sustainable development and the promotion of renewable energy communities. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and carries out teaching activities, including at the international level.

Francesca Valetti

Francesca Valetti is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology of the University of Turin. Her research focuses on enzymology, protein biochemistry and biocatalysis applied to sustainable processes, with particular attention to biohydrogen production, biofuels from waste, CO2 capture and environmental bioremediation. After obtaining her degree in Biological Sciences and her PhD in Protein Chemistry at the University of Turin, she carried out postdoctoral research at Imperial College London and developed extensive experience in academic research, participating in and coordinating national and European projects on renewable energy and green processes. She is the author of numerous scientific publications in international journals, co-inventor of a patent, and teaches in undergraduate and graduate programmes in biochemistry and biotechnology.
